Mediation

The Mediation Department strives to promote settlement of uncontested cases. Claims involving the determination of the value of permanent disability or disfigurement often can be resolved at an informal conference, thus avoiding the expense and delay of a formal hearing.

An informal conference is mediation between the injured worker and the employer's insurance representative.  A commissioner or claims mediator facilitates the settlement discussions.  If the parties do not agree on a settlement, the case is set for a hearing at the earliest possible date.
